Taiwan - Established back in 1907, Nisshinbo Holdings as it is known today began operations as a textile company and has developed successfully into becoming a major industrial entity. Massive diversification occurred shortly after the Second World War and riding on the high economic growth experienced by Japan, the company effectively expanded into non-textile industries such as chemicals and automotive brakes by the 1960s.
Growing on the importance and accessibility of automotive mobility, the brakes business grew steadily throughout the latter half of the 20th century. Following the friendly merger & acquisition of European brake manufacturer TMD Friction in 2011, a company established back in 1878 and responsible for developing products in icons such as the Ford Model T or the Formula One Grand Prix championship-winning Mercedes-Benz W196 piloted by Stirling Moss, Nisshinbo Holdings has grown into a world-class supplier of friction materials in the automotive industry and is recognised as one of the world's largest automotive brake friction manufacturers today.
Together with their Taiwan distributor Briport Enterprise Co. Ltd, TMD Friction Services GmbH organized the company's first ever Roaming Roadshow in Taiwan from the 22nd till the 27th of April. Starting off from Taipei, the administrative capital of Taiwan in the North, the TMD Friction and Briport Enterprise crew penetrated Southward and travelled more than 400km during the 6-day event, visiting over 40 clients and dealers along the way.
While many of the clients are well-established, loyal and have been supportive over the years, the TMD Friction and Briport Enterprise crew also took the opportunity to introduce the Nisshinbo brand and their products to a newer clientele. Furthermore, the unique concept of the Roaming Roadshow allowed for existing and new retailers and dealers to be kept up-to-date with the latest technology from Nisshinbo; regional and global developments in the aftermarket industries; technical information relevant to the market; as well as the distributing of important point-of-sales materials and merchandise to support the various sales and marketing teams.
The resounding success of the first ever Nisshinbo Roaming Roadshow in Taiwan this year was amplified by the positive feedback from all retailers and dealers, as such an event has never before been attempted and accomplished. Mr. James Tan, speaking on behalf of TMD Friction Services GmbH and Director for Georg Grotjahn (Singapore) Pte Ltd added at the end of the 6-day event "It was a fantastic opportunity for us to have met many old friends and make new ones during the course of the past week, and to introduce the wide selection of products offered by Nisshinbo and TMD Friction. We are also extremely glad to have been able to update them on the developments of Nisshinbo while sharing with them the strategic plans for the future."
