We were back at the Clark International Speedway with nonstop action for the 2019 Motul 300V Super Fast Track Day. This year's theme “Drag and Touge Battle”, was organized by none other than Mr. Carlos Gono of AutoPlus Sportzentrium. Together with support from Motul, Supercar Club of the Philippines, MAGTROC, WRX STi Club Philippines, AutoHolic Garage, Progressive Line, Subaru Motor Image, Parts Pro, PitWorkz and Back Stage Events.
Having a solid reputation in the industry, the well-known lubricant brand Motul is used by the people who push the limits of their hardcore street and track machines. With the number of participants, spectators and sheer quality of cars, the event was considered one of the biggest car gatherings to-date. The event was also ideal for teams and gearheads to test their machines in hot laps and shakedowns. Together with AutoPlus Sportzentrium, the Motul team had once again made history in gathering these mighty machines in one place.
The event commenced a little later than expected as most of the participants were still making their way to the venue, with people coming all the way from far South and far North just to be a part of this remarkable event. Registration started bright and early at 7AM for the track participants, followed by the drivers briefing which was led by Mr. E.Z Ligaya - the man behind the Touge Battle Races. Mr, Ligaya insisted that there will be no trophies/awards for this track day, as he wanted the participants to fully enjoy the experience with no pressure.
This gathering was like being at Disneyland for motorheads. Sighting a slew of exotic cars from different manufacturers ripping down the track and being put to test. - Not something you see every day!
The Parade lap commenced just a little after 9AM with Luis Gono driving the AutoPlus red Ford GT leading the pack. Hearing their high revving loud exhausts, it was indeed music to our ears.
One of the best drag battles we witnessed was the yellow Porsche GT2 RS versus the Nismo GT-R. Each run was pure excitement as the owners put the pedal to the floor, pushing their cars to the limit. Another one that stood out in our minds was the yellow Lamborghini Huracan, driven by the drag master himself - Mr. Jonathan Tiu, the owner and title holder of the quickest GT-R in the country that runs 8 seconds in the quarter-mile. - This is how the big boys play!
It was indeed a jaw-dropping experience seeing these multi-million dollar cars out having fun in the sun. Everyone had played an important role, from the organizers, participants to the spectators.
It was an absolute day to remember! Be sure to watch out for the next Motul 300V SuperFast Track Day as they promised to deliver more exciting and more fun for the year 2020!
