Philippines - I have been dreaming of doing a photoshoot here in Subic Bay Freeport Zone for the longest time now. Whenever I visit this place it reminds me of my childhood days when we used to spend our summer vacation with the entire family.
Subic is well known for having strict traffic rules, one mistake and you'll probably end up having a ticket or risk your license being confiscated. As a result of these implementations, the streets running through the area are much better, nicer and cleaner - the perfect place for a photoshoot.
Cue today’s feature car - a Varis kitted Subaru WRX STI owned by Quinton. We have been frequently seeing this ride in various Manila car shows and with the help of Jansen, founder/owner of Elite Project Motorsports - an aftermarket parts seller, distributor, and fellow car enthusiast, the duo have turned this boxer into a beast.
Quinton shared with me the story about his STI.
Long before Quinton and his dad decided to get the brand new Subaru WRX STI, a complete list detailing every part of the project has already been planned. From engine components, outlook appearance, interior, suspension, down to even the smallest of bolts.
The car was bought in 2015 fresh from the dealership and driven only for few weeks before the whole transformation began. It started with the replacement of the stock intake and exhaust pipes with Tomei goodness.
Then interior carpeting was removed, exposing the metal flooring which was then painted in a battleship gray hue. Quinton then installed a custom EP floor heel plate, a Cusco 8-point chromoly roll-cage, a pair of red Bride Zeta III seats colour matched with the original red stitching and trim. Overall the cockpit was dressed up not only for aesthetics but also for future track purposes.
Aesthetics wise, the Varis Arising II Aero bodykit was chosen to add a huge dose of aggression to the Scooby’s appearance. The kit includes a new hood, front bumper, extension lip spoiler, fenders, side-step, side underboard, side splitter, heat shield, rear diffuser, hood and finally topping off with an Euro GT-Wing.
