Mokpo, South Korea - After yesterday’s fantastic run from Peter Terting in the #30 Hyundai Motorsport i30 N TCR, which he took both P1 positions for Q1 and Q2, a Drive Through Penalty at the start saw Terting drop a couple of notches down only to fight his way back up to third, though this gave E-Rain Racing’s Noh Dong Gi and Andrew Kim a 1-2 finish for Round 5 of the 2018 TCR Korea Touring Car Series. In Round 6 it was Indigo Racing’s #99 Kim Jin Soo and #87 Kang Byung Hui that took first and third spot on the podium. Separating the two was the #85 BrandNew Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR of Namsu Jung.

A clash of schedules meant that BrandNew Racing was unable to make it for Qualifying yesterday but the team nevertheless rushed down to Mokpo to ensure they are still in the title run.

The race went out without a hitch as Peter Terting immediately took the lead though race stewards concluded that he had a jump start and was given a Drive Through Penalty on Lap 7. This paved the way for the #19 E-Rain Racing Hyundai i30 N TCR of Noh Dong Gi to take the lead with second spot now going to fellow team-mate, Andrew Kim in the #20 E-Rain Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR and in third now was the #99 Indigo Racing Hyundai i30 N TCR of Kim Jin Soo. The #03 KMSA Motorsport Hyundai i30 N TCR of Kang Dong Woo pitted in on Lap 9, apparently with mechanical issues and was forced to retire from the race.

Peter Terting rejoined the race in seventh but quickly regained back a couple of spots and by Lap 10 he was back in fourth easily overtaking the back-markers. However the Hyundai Motorsport driver found himself stuck behind Kim Jin Soo in the #99 Indigo Racing Hyundai i30 as the two continued battling for third position. Upfront, Noh Dong Gi and Andrew Kim of E-Rain Racing were enjoying a rather stress free run as the duo were separated by just a second by Lap 20, whilst third place Kim Jin Soo was a distant seven seconds behind.

At that very same lap, Peter Terting finally made his move on the #99 Indigo Racing Hyundai i30 N TCR, putting his #30 Hyundai Motorsport i30 back in podium contention. Peter Terting wasted no time as he quickly closed the gap between his car and the E-Rain Racing’s 1-2 placement, bringing the difference down to just five seconds in just two laps but that was not enough to catch up with the race leaders.
